We have these darling new crocheted hats in store. They are perfect for this cold weather and come in a great variety of styles and colors. But the story behind the hats makes them even better. We know it will make you want one!

Krochet Kids was started by three good buddies in Spokane, WA. One of them was taught to crochet by his older brother and in high school he taught his two best friends. They liked to make unique hats to wear for snow sports. Their local paper named them the “Krochet Kids.”

In college they went their separate ways, but all started to travel and to volunteer. They wanted to find a way to help and make a difference in the world. One returned from a summer in Uganda with the idea that they could teach people to crochet, pay them a fair wage, and help to break the cycle of poverty.

Krochet Kids became a non-profit in 2008 and now 185 women and their families in Uganda and Peru are working and being mentored through the company. Each item is hand-signed by the person who made it. What a great lesson to teach our kids…not only about the good this company is doing, but about what three buddies with a dream and a desire to help were able to do.
